Legal
In plain language
- This site sets no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies.
- Your consent decision is stored in your browser's local storage — not in a cookie, and not sent to us.
- Analytics, where enabled, loads only after you have accepted it. Declining means nothing loads at all.
- You can change your decision at any time from the link in the footer.
This summary is written to be read quickly and is not a substitute for the sections below. Where the two could be read differently, the sections govern.
Cookies are small files a website asks your browser to keep. Related technologies — local storage, session storage — do a similar job without being cookies. This policy covers all of them, because the distinction matters to engineers and not to you.
What this site actually stores
Strictly necessary
Your consent decision is recorded in your browser's local storage under a single key, together with the date you made it. It never leaves your device and is not readable by us. Without it the consent notice would reappear on every page, which is why declining analytics does not remove this entry.
Submitting a form may involve short-lived security and abuse-prevention state. This is essential to the form working and to stopping automated submissions.
Analytics — only with consent
Where analytics is enabled on this site, it measures which pages are read and which tools and forms are used, in aggregate. No analytics script is loaded, and no analytics cookie is placed, until you have accepted. If you decline, nothing is loaded and no request is made to an analytics provider at all.
Two providers are supported by this site's code. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device; Plausible Analytics sets none, storing no identifier at all. Whichever is configured, consent is required first.
What this site does not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No cross-site tracking or data-broker pixels.
- No social network embeds, and therefore none of the cookies they carry.
- No session recording, heatmapping or keystroke capture.
Consent
We do not ask consent for strictly necessary storage, because the site cannot function without it and it does nothing else. For analytics we ask first, and treat no answer as no.
Changing your mind
Use the cookie preferences link in the footer to grant or withdraw analytics consent at any time. Withdrawing clears the recorded decision and stops further analytics for the rest of the session.
Managing storage yourself
Your browser can block or delete cookies and site data, either generally or for this site alone. Doing so will clear your consent decision, and the notice will appear again on your next visit. Nothing else on this site breaks.
Updates
If the tools this site uses change, this page changes with them and the last-updated date moves. If we ever introduce a category of storage not listed above, it will appear here before it appears in the site.
